## Thermador Sapphire Dishwasher Repair in Jacksonville

Dishwashers that will not drain, run long, or stop drying. Traced to the real cause before anything is ordered.

### Symptoms we get called for

- Water sits in the sump at the end of every cycle
- Cycle runs far longer than it used to before finishing
- Plastics and the upper rack stay wet at the end of the dry cycle
- Upper spray arm turns slowly or not at all
- Door will not stay shut, or the latch has to be forced
- Water appears on the floor at the front edge of the machine

A Thermador Sapphire dishwasher is quiet, which is a problem when something goes wrong. There is no obvious noise change to warn you, so the first sign is usually the dishes or the puddle.

Most of what we see divides into four groups: drainage, heat, drying and the door. Each has a test order, and the order matters more than any single part on it.

### Water left in the sump

A dishwasher that will not clear its sump has a blockage, a drain pump fault, or an installation problem, and those cost wildly different amounts.

Check the filter first. Thermador filters lift out by hand, and a clogged one on its own will hold water. If the filter is clean and the sump is still full, the sequence runs drain pump impeller, then the hose, then the air gap or high loop under the sink — cheapest and most common first, every time.

Installation matters more here than people expect. A drain hose that was never looped high enough lets sink water siphon back into the machine. That produces standing water and a smell, and no part will fix it. Where a disposer was fitted after the dishwasher, the knockout plug in its inlet is sometimes still in place, which blocks the drain completely from day one.

### Long cycles

A cycle that has quietly stretched by half an hour is a heating problem. The machine holds the cycle open waiting for a temperature it cannot reach, and it will wait a long time before giving up.

Three things produce that. A failed or insulated heating element. A thermistor reading wrong, which makes a healthy element look dead. Or a hot water supply that is simply too cold at the tap, which is not a fault in the appliance at all.

We measure the incoming water temperature before condemning anything inside the door, because the third one is common and it is free to rule out. A long run to the kitchen, a water heater set low, or a nearby fixture drawing at the same time will each do it.

### Weak wash and slow spray arms

If plates come out with food still on them and the machine sounds normal, the question is whether water is reaching them.

Spin each arm by hand — both should turn freely with no grinding. Then look at the jets: a wash pattern that has gone patchy is usually blocked or eroded nozzles rather than a weak pump. Check that nothing on the lower rack is tall enough to stop the upper arm turning, which is the single most common cause of a clean bottom rack and a dirty top one.

Where the arms are clear and the pattern is still poor, the circulation pump or its diverter is next, and that is a proper diagnosis rather than a guess.

### Drying

Thermador dishwashers rely on condensation drying rather than a hot exposed element, which means the final rinse temperature and the rinse aid dose do most of the work.

Plastics staying wet is normal behaviour for condensation drying — plastic holds too little heat to evaporate what is on it. Glass and china staying wet is not. If everything comes out wet, the fault is the final rinse temperature, which loops straight back to the element or the thermistor.

Empty rinse aid is worth checking before you call. It is the single most common cause of a sudden drying complaint and it costs nothing to rule out.

### Doors, latches and leaks

A door that has to be forced usually has a latch out of alignment or a hinge cable that has stretched. Left alone, the door drops, the seal stops compressing evenly along the bottom, and a latch problem becomes a leak.

Any leak in a built-in dishwasher deserves a fast response. Under-counter water in an older Jacksonville kitchen reaches the subfloor long before it reaches the visible floor, and by the time it shows at the toe kick it has usually been running for weeks. Water at the front edge specifically points at the door seal or an overfill rather than at a hose, which narrows the search considerably.

### Access

A Sapphire is fixed to the underside of the countertop or to the cabinet sides, sits on levelling legs, and is connected to a supply line, a drain hose and its own electrical feed. Pulling one forward means releasing all three without straining them, and in a stone countertop installation the mounting brackets are to the cabinet rather than the stone.

Where the machine was fitted with a custom panel, the panel and its handle come off before the unit moves. It is worth telling us at booking if yours is panelled — it changes the time we allow.

### What owners said after this repair

- ★★★★★ Water was sitting in the base at the end of every wash. The check valve had jammed part open on a shard of glass. He cleared it, ran three cycles back to back to prove it, and left the filter spotless. Ignatius V. 2026-07-27
- ★★★☆☆ The diagnosis was thorough and the leak has not come back since. What let it down was the scheduling: the follow-up slipped twice before the part was actually fitted, and I had to chase on both occasions. Rupert N. 2026-05-30
- ★★★★★ Our dishwasher was leaving a film on everything and drying nothing. He found the diverter motor stalling and replaced it, then walked me through the rinse aid setting, which had been wound right down to nothing. Susanna E. 2026-07-13
