## Thermador Steam Oven Repair in Jacksonville

Steam ovens that stop making steam, will not drain, or leak into the cabinet above. Diagnosed in the cabinet, quoted in writing.

### Symptoms we get called for

- Reservoir empties but no steam reaches the cavity
- Water sits in the bottom of the cavity after the cycle ends
- Steam escapes around the door and fogs the cabinet above
- Pump runs loudly, cycles rapidly, or does not run at all
- Cavity heats but food comes out dry with no visible steam
- Door no longer pulls itself closed over the last inch of travel

A steam oven is a small boiler bolted to an oven cavity, and almost everything that goes wrong with one is on the water side rather than the heating side. The reservoir, the feed line, the pump, the generator, the level sensor, the steam path into the cavity and the drain path out of it — that is the whole system, and a fault anywhere in it presents as “no steam”.

### No steam in the cavity

If the reservoir empties and the cavity stays dry, the water is going somewhere else. Usually that is a pump that primes but does not deliver, a restricted feed line, or a generator that cannot reach a boil.

There is a test order and skipping steps in it is how a good pump gets replaced for nothing. Confirm the reservoir seats fully and its valve actually opens — a reservoir that is a few millimetres proud reads as empty and the oven will never start. Confirm the pump runs, and confirm it moves water rather than just making the right noise. Confirm the generator reaches temperature, which is a heating and sensing question rather than a plumbing one. Then confirm the steam path into the cavity is clear.

Each of those is cheap to check and expensive to guess at, and they fail with very different price tags.

### Water left in the cavity

Standing water after a cycle means the drain path is not clearing. Thermador steam ovens either drain back to a tank or drain out, depending on how yours was installed, and the failure looks identical either way.

Check the drain tank first if you have one. If it is empty and the cavity is still wet, the drain valve or its line is blocked and the valve gets tested before it gets replaced — a stuck valve and a blocked line produce the same puddle.

### Water quality, briefly

Duval County tap water is hard, and a steam generator boils it on purpose, so treat the manufacturer’s descale interval as the longest you should go rather than as a target, and fill the reservoir from a filter pitcher rather than straight from the tap. If the oven asks to be descaled, runs the cycle and asks again within weeks, the deposit has hardened past what a cycle can dissolve, and the generator, the level sensor or the pump has to come out and be cleaned or replaced.

### Door seals and fogged cabinets

Steam escaping the door will damage the cabinetry above it long before it damages the oven. Look at the underside of the cabinet or the trim directly over the door: swelling or a lifted finish means the seal has been leaking for a while, and the repair bill for a cabinet run is not comparable to the cost of a gasket.

Gaskets take a set with heat and age. A seal that no longer springs back when pressed is finished, and no amount of adjustment recovers it.

Hinges matter as much. A steam oven door that no longer pulls itself closed over the last inch of travel is not sealing under pressure even when it looks shut, and a hinge that has weakened on one side loads the gasket unevenly so one corner leaks while the rest looks perfect. We check hinge and door alignment before we quote a seal, because fitting a new gasket to a dropped door buys a few months at most.

### Access and clearance

Steam ovens in this city are almost always built into a tall cabinet, frequently stacked above or below a wall oven, and that constrains the visit before we have opened anything.

The unit is held by trim screws into the cabinet face and has to come forward on its own weight to reach the water connections, the pump and the generator behind. Where a plumbed model was fitted, there is a supply line and often a shut-off buried in the cabinet next to it, and where the model uses a reservoir there is not. Those are different jobs and it helps to know which you have when you book.

If the oven was fitted into an opening slightly short on depth, its cooling fan runs longer than it should and the electronics sit hotter than the design allows. That is an install fault rather than a part fault and we will say so plainly.

### Parts and lead times

Generators, pumps, level sensors and door seals are the parts we order most, and common ones usually arrive within a few days. Discontinued boards and cosmetic trim run much longer.

For older equipment the correct part is frequently specific to the serial number rather than the model, so we photograph the full rating plate before ordering. Getting that wrong costs a second visit and a restocking argument, which is why we would rather spend the extra two minutes on the first one. Whatever the lead time is, it is quoted with the written estimate, before you commit.

### When we tell you not to repair it

A generator and a pump on the same visit, on an oven well past ten years, gets close to the point where the numbers stop working. We will show you where that line sits rather than quietly clearing it.

The counterweight is that a built-in is not a freestanding appliance — it sits in an opening cut for it and behind trim made for it, so replacement can pull cabinetry work along with it. We give you both figures and let you decide.
